Flock Over Forest. 20 x 16. **available through Camden Falls Gallery, Camden 207-470-7027
Original Painting by Kelly B Desrosiers, 20”x16”x1.25", ready to hang.
Some of my paintings veer off into a more abstract composition that is a compilation of different places with my emotional feelings becoming the most important driving force. These pieces tend to be somewhat more tempered in color. Often a form will arise and surprise me! In this case it was the “forest” of spiky forms seen from a birds-eye view. Imagine what it must look like to see the top of a forest laid out beneath you while soaring over a vast and wild landscape. The flock of birds is there partly because of my love of the concept of migration, which is associated with both time and distance, and it also creates movement in the work, a must!
This piece is a mixed media artwork involving a multi-layered technique that I evolved over several years. A richly textured surface, with luminous color and visual depth results. For me, the overlapping patterns in layers of transparency and complexity represent the intertwined ecological relationships of this special place.
This painting has been created on a cradled wood panel with a contemporary white painted frame, with hanging wire attached. I handcraft each and every step of my process in my own modest home studio in Unity, Maine. Mine is a one-woman operation, start to finish!
I have used “staging software” to show the scale and appearance of this painting were it to be hung in different rooms. This allows me to show you how this unique painting would look hung above a bed, couch, or on a wall. It is to help you visualize the scale of the work in your own home or office.
