Quoddy Head 10x10
Original Painting by Kelly B Desrosiers, 10”x10”x1.25”, ready to hang.
There are many magnificent heads of land that meet the sea with cliffs along the coast of Maine but Quoddy Head is special. And, there is a trail that makes such views available without risking one’s life! The drama of sea meeting rock head on heightens the thrill!
This piece is a mixed media artwork involving a multi-layered technique that I evolved over several years. A richly textured surface, with luminous color and visual depth results. For me, the overlapping patterns in layers of transparency and complexity represent the intertwined ecological relationships of this special place.
This painting has been created on a cradled wood panel with black painted edges, no additional framing required, with hanging wire attached. I handcraft each and every step of my process in my own modest home studio in Unity, Maine. Mine is a one-woman operation, start to finish!
