Drawings

I draw as a practice, which keeps me in artistic shape, and it is no surprise that I like to draw animals since my first degree was in Animal&Veterinary Science! I draw animals that exist in Maine, and in exotic places, animals that are highly textured “living dinosaurs” (admired evolutionary survivors give me hope), animals that are extinct, or almost extinct, animals that are looking at me as if to say “What are you humans doing?”, the insides and outsides of animals, and I like to draw animals juxtaposed with other objects in order to create a new meaning beyond mere description. I also like to draw imaginary sea monsters, landforms, plants, and abstractions of place, some of which I call “Back to the Garden”, and these I feel are very spiritual. I tend to draw in bursts, and on themes of interest, that often reflect my emotional reactions to the times I am living through.

Most of these drawings are available, either mounted, sealed, and framed, or simply on paper. If you love any particular drawing, just email me at kellyofunity@gmail.com and I can answer any questions you may have. Many of my drawings are also now available through Mainely Gallery in Belfast. I would also love to have a show of just drawings some day, either a single series or all of them!
