Screened View on Monhegan 24 x 18
Original Painting by Kelly B Desrosiers, 18”x24”x1.25", ready to hang.
The cliffs on the far side of Monhegan afford many views of headlands beyond the wild growth and tangle of beach roses, waving grasses, raspberries, and downed trees with their screens of bleached branches. The branches are a sculptural element in this landscape.
This piece is a mixed media artwork involving a multi-layered technique that I evolved over several years. A richly textured surface, with luminous color and visual depth results. For me, the overlapping patterns in layers of transparency and complexity represent the intertwined ecological relationships of this special place.
This painting has been created on a cradled wood panel with black painted edges, no additional framing required, with hanging wire attached. I handcraft each and every step of my process in my own modest home studio in Unity, Maine. Mine is a one-woman operation, start to finish!
