Fluttering Wavelet 11x14
Original Painting by Kelly B Desrosiers, 11”x14”x1.25”, ready to hang.
Symmetry and asymmetry, light and dark, play against one another in this painting which is balanced and centering. It features a delicate wavelet (don’t you love the word wavelet?) which is fluttering against the rocks in a way similar to the flock of birds above.
This piece is a mixed media artwork involving a multi-layered technique that I evolved over several years. A richly textured surface, with luminous color and visual depth results. For me, the overlapping patterns in layers of transparency and complexity represent the intertwined ecological relationships of this special place.
This painting has been created on a cradled wood panel with black painted edges, no additional framing required, with hanging wire attached. I handcraft each and every step of my process in my own modest home studio in Unity, Maine. Mine is a one-woman operation, start to finish!
