Height of Land, Mooselookmeguntic Lake 20 x 16

$650.00

Original Painting by Kelly B Desrosiers,  20”x16”x1.25", ready to hang.

Height of Land is an actual spot in Roxbury, Maine which now has a Route 17 pull-off parking area so that the extraordinary distant view can be absorbed safely. Otherwise this view could stop motorists in their tracks, especially in Autumn! In this artwork I attempt to convey the magical feel of the western mountains of Maine: vast forests, northern freshwater lakes, cool breezes and big skies.

This piece is a mixed media artwork involving a multi-layered technique that I evolved over several years. A richly textured surface, with luminous color and visual depth results. For me, the overlapping patterns in layers of transparency and complexity represent the intertwined ecological relationships of this special place.

This painting has been created on a cradled wood panel with black painted edges, no additional framing required, with hanging wire attached. I handcraft each and every step of my process in my own modest home studio in Unity, Maine. Mine is a one-woman operation, start to finish!
