Little Cliffs and Clouds 8x10

$350.00

Original Painting by Kelly B Desrosiers,  8”x10”x1.25”, ready to hang.

This is a theme I have repeated, Cliffs and Clouds, because it seems archetypically Maine. While we have sand beaches, especially in southern Maine, it is the rocky ledges and rocky headlands that have the look of Maine that I, as a northerner, love. There is an inaccessible nature to a cliff that makes a landing seem precarious and more wild. Thus the sailboats on the open sea also seem more adventurous and free.

This piece is a mixed media artwork involving a multi-layered technique that I evolved over several years. A richly textured surface, with luminous color and visual depth results. For me, the overlapping patterns in layers of transparency and complexity represent the intertwined ecological relationships of this special place.

This painting has been created on a cradled wood panel with black painted edges, no additional framing required, with hanging wire attached. I handcraft each and every step of my process in my own modest home studio in Unity, Maine. Mine is a one-woman operation, start to finish!
