Monhegan Nocturne 10x8

$350.00

Original Painting by Kelly B Desrosiers,  10”x8”x1.25”,  ready to hang.

This view from the lighthouse on Monhegan is a wonderful way to end each day. The house I stay in is the second to last up Lighthouse Road and easy to stroll to before bedtime. In this artwork, I attempt to convey the magical feel of the view of the silhouetted Island Inn with Manana beyond.

This piece is a mixed media artwork involving a multi-layered technique that I evolved over several years. A richly textured surface, with luminous color and visual depth results. For me, the overlapping patterns in layers of transparency and complexity represent the intertwined ecological relationships of this special place.

This painting has been created on a cradled wood panel with black painted edges, no additional framing required, with hanging wire attached. I handcraft each and every step of my process in my own modest home studio in Unity, Maine. Mine is a one-woman operation, start to finish!
