Moonlit Tracks 20x16
Original Painting by Kelly B Desrosiers, 20”x16”x1.25”, ready to hang.
This painting is one of a series I have created inspired by the magic of walking a frozen stream behind my home on a winter’s night. I do love to walk the Sandy Stream which runs behind my house but this is not a literal scene. I do not believe a representational scene would even be possible! It is a fantasy concocted of the elements of “my” actual stream (Sandy Stream, Unity): moonlight, tree trunks glittering with ice diamonds, snow-covered banks, iced over water, animal tracks. The silence, the stars, and the subtle radiance in the sky feel palpable, and that is what is important.
This piece is a mixed media artwork involving a multi-layered technique that I evolved over several years. A richly textured surface, with luminous color and visual depth results. For me, the overlapping patterns in layers of transparency and complexity represent the intertwined ecological relationships of this special place.
This painting has been created on a cradled wood panel with black painted edges, no additional framing required, with hanging wire attached. I handcraft each and every step of my process in my own modest home studio in Unity, Maine. Mine is a one-woman operation, start to finish!
