Old Brick Cape 10x10

$400.00

Original Painting by Kelly B Desrosiers,  10”x10”x1.25”, ready to hang.

This painting of a very old brick New England cape farmhouse with its attached ell seems to me quintessentially Maine. Farmhouses like this one are settled so perfectly into their surroundings, with shade trees, dooryards, long established orchards, lilac bushes, old fashioned perennials, fields and barns. I can absorb the histories just looking at them! The autumn colors dress them up perfectly.

This piece is a mixed media artwork involving a multi-layered technique that I evolved over several years. A richly textured surface, with luminous color and visual depth results. For me, the overlapping patterns in layers of transparency and complexity represent the intertwined ecological relationships of this special place.

This painting has been created on a cradled wood panel with black painted edges, no additional framing required, with hanging wire attached. I handcraft each and every step of my process in my own modest home studio in Unity, Maine. Mine is a one-woman operation, start to finish!
