Soft Clouds Over Manana 8x10
Original Painting by Kelly B Desrosiers, 8”x10”x1.25”, ready to hang.
This is a painting of a morning on remote Monhegan, looking down toward the dock and the harbor sheltered by the island Manana. It is a warm morning. Bright, optimistic sunlight illuminates the roofs of the boathouse and cottage. Soft clouds still shroud Manana from the night before but are burning away fast. A day awaits!
This piece is a mixed media artwork involving a multi-layered technique that I evolved over several years. A richly textured surface, with luminous color and visual depth results. For me, the overlapping patterns in layers of transparency and complexity represent the intertwined ecological relationships of this special place.
This painting has been created on a cradled wood panel with black painted edges, no additional framing required, with hanging wire attached. I handcraft each and every step of my process in my own modest home studio in Unity, Maine. Mine is a one-woman operation, start to finish!
