Sunset Over All 24"x12"
Original Painting by Kelly B Desrosiers, 24”x12”x1.25”, ready to hang.
Sunset Point, on Vinalhaven, is a wonderful spot where people congregate to sit on the sun-warmed ledges and watch the sun set. Some people bring their wine glasses and a bottle! There are a few very large, rounded erratic boulders which have been placed, just so, on the ledges at the sea’s edge. Just imagine how long ago that was that they were placed there! It is as if the glacier were intending a sculpture garden of stone, with the most stunning backdrop.
This piece is a mixed media artwork involving a multi-layered technique that I evolved over several years. A richly textured surface, with luminous color and visual depth results. For me, the overlapping patterns in layers of transparency and complexity represent the intertwined ecological relationships of this special place.
This painting has been created on a cradled wood panel with black painted edges, no additional framing required, with hanging wire attached. I handcraft each and every step of my process in my own modest home studio in Unity, Maine. Mine is a one-woman operation, start to finish!
